About the Course:

This CPD-accredited training has been developed and delivered by Nicole Bateman

(The Friendly SEND Advisor) and Dr Frances Willis (Educational Psychologist). It is designed to provide a structured, evidence-based approach to inclusive practice in children’s activities and education.


What does the course look like?


Through six comprehensive modules, you will:


Develop an understanding of neurodiversity and the social model of disability.

Learn about your legal and ethical duty to embed inclusive practice in your sessions with small but meaningful adjustments.

Explore practical strategies for supporting both sensory and emotional regulation.

Gain confidence in adapting activities, the environment and communication to support a wide range of needs.

Build a portfolio of evidence, demonstrating your learning and making real life impact to your every day processes.

Apply your learning through a case study, showing how you have implemented changes in your setting.

By the end of the course, you will have the skills, knowledge, and real-world experience to

confidently create and deliver inclusive sessions that support all children to thrive.

You will also receive CPD Points, an official certificate and your SEND Inclusion Mark which can be shared on your website and social media once your case study has been submitted and reviewed.

Question 1: Who is this training for?

This course is designed for children’s activity providers: whether you run a dance school, football club, tutoring sessions, STEAM club, drama group, or any other class/club for kids. If you want to make your sessions more inclusive and welcoming for neurodivergent children and those with disabilities, this is for you!

Question 2: Do I need any prior knowledge or experience?

Not at all. We meet you where you are. Whether you’re just starting to think about inclusion or already making adjustments and want to deepen your practice, this course will guide you with practical strategies and reflective tools.

Question 3: What does CPD accredited mean?

It means the course has been reviewed and accredited as continuing professional development. When you complete the course, you'll receive a CPD points and a certificate to evidence your learning – ideal for personal records or organisational training requirements.

Question 4: Who delivers the course?

The course is co-led by Nicole Bateman (The Friendly SEND Advisor), a late diagnosed ADHDer, experienced teacher, author and neurodivergent advocate, and Dr Frances Willis (The Inclusive Psychologist), an experienced Educational Psychologist who brings psychological expertise grounded in practice. Together, they bring lived and professional experience with a neuro-affirming approach.

Question 5: How long is the course, how is it delivered and assessed?

The course is split into six accessible modules that you can complete in your own time. Each module includes a video training, practical activities that you complete towards building your portfolio, reflection prompts, and downloadable tools to help in your every day setting. Our first round of training will start on Monday 2nd June when you will receive module 1.

At the end of each module you will be directed to complete a part of your portfolio (e.g. booking form, website, first 5 minute proforma etc) and then in order to receive your certificate and the CPD points you must complete an anonymised Case Study following our framework to demonstrate what you have learnt which Nicole and Frances will mark and submit.

We’ll explore:

The meaning of true inclusion (and how to put it into practice).

Your ethical and legal requirements.

Sensory and emotional regulation/dysregulation and how that impacts behaviour.

Building safe, engaging, inclusive sessions using the SEED Framework.

Understanding a range of needs including autism, ADHD, learning differences, physical and communication needs.

Planning ahead with confidence and building your portfolio of evidence.

Case studies and real-world solutions.

Neuro-affirming and strengths-based approaches to building skillsets.

Question 7: Can I ask questions or get support during the course?

Absolutely. You’ll have access to a private learning space/community to ask questions, share reflections, and get support from Nicole and Francis as well as other course participants. There will also be three 1 hour Q and A sessions for you to attend if you wish.
